Welcome to our website.  Our aim is to inform you of the comings and goings of one and all, what days we have coming up and to enlighten you a little on how we came about.
 
So here’s a little of the history.  Patetonga Speedway was the vision of one man, the owner himself,  the original 'Bomber', or 'Plum' to his mates.  Having raced at the top of his sport stockcars, back in the late ‘60’s early 70’s, ‘The Bomber’  has always been aware of the total lack of training facilities for dirt track driving practice.  Hence, Plum got together with his good mate and right-hand-man, Bill Game, and they hatched a plan to build one of  his ultimate dreams, a practice dirt track that was the fastest in New Zealand.
 
What was it that gave them countless late nights on tractors, trips to Aussie and phone calls to America to find out what was needed to build a track with plenty of width for passing,  different banking on each corner to hone the driver's skills and test the set up of the car?  Seven years of hard yakka, that’s what!

The minute there's clay put on the track the phone rings! Somebody has let the word slip about some guy building a speedway track at Patetonga, "Where?"  “Can we come try it out?”,  “sure,  but don’t go telling everyone, it’ll be our secret.” Yeah right! 
 
The finished article:  an amazing 400m (quarter mile) clay oval with wide banked turns designed for car testing and driver training only, not racing.  It is a high spec track suitable for all classes of speedway.

Situated on the Plummer property up Waikaka Road, Patetonga, it has a relaxed, friendly, family environment with plenty of room with grassy hillsides suitable for spectator viewing and picnics.

The track is run by the Clan.....'Samantha' (Sam) Chief Dictator; ' Dayne' (Plum) The Ideas Man, Purchasing Officer and Legend;  'Jeremy' (Cripp) Renaissance Man and Master Fabricator; Maintenance Dude; Tyrel, Memphis, and Pearl (Woof!) 'The Posse' (speedway orphans!).

As they say  "BUILD IT AND THEY WILL COME."
